Be Your Best

5 Small Ways to Lift Your Look

Handsome man stylishly leans whilst looking his best adorned in a crisp white shirt and nonchalantly tied jumper over his shoulders

At Gillette, we believe everyone deserves to look good and it is important to remind ourselves that we are worthy of the extra time it takes to look good. We don’t need the world to look at us, but we are not afraid to be looked at.

With that in mind, we’ve compiled 5 small things that you can do at home to lift your look:

1.) Trim Nose Hair to Look Good

Protruding nose hairs can often be a source of self-consciousness. Regular trimming is the answer; with a well groomed nose boosting confidence and complimenting the overall appearance of your facial hair.

When getting rid of nose hair, always trim rather than pluck. Plucking your nose hairs can be painful. It’s best to use our Gillette All Purpose Styler to carefully trim the protruding hairs.

There’s no need to get rid of it outright and risk pain and infection – just trim it regularly and deliberately to look your best.

2.) Turn your Patchy Beard into a Stylish 5 o’clock Shadow

When it comes to looking your best, facial symmetry is associated with tidiness. A patchy beard can appear uneven and make you look unkempt. To solve this, try the 5 o’clock shadow look.

A 5 o’clock shadow is a look that anyone can pull off! It allows you to keep that mature-looking stubble without growing out your beard fully.

Our King C Gillette Trimmer is the perfect razor to use as it’s designed for all beard types with 3 combs and 11 different length settings. As the 5 o’clock shadow look is short, start off with a longer comb until you get to a level you’re happy with then use a shorter comb to shape.

Don’t forget to apply our Gillette SKIN Aftershave Balm to keep the skin hydrated from ruining your new stubbly look.

3.) Iron in Half the Time

An ironed shirt can make a big difference to your overall look, and while some find it therapeutic, others try their hardest to avoid it (this one’s for you).

A simple trick to cut your ironing time in half? Place a sheet of foil, shiny side up, on the ironing board then put your clothes on it. This irons both sides at the same time.

If you accidently scorch part of a cotton shirt, simply dab it with lemon juice and leave it out in the sun. The mark should go away – unless you’ve burned a hole through it, that is.

4.) Save ‘Ruined’ Leather Shoes

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who love shoe shopping and those who see a hole in their shoes as an opportunity to let their feet breathe. On a serious note, getting stains out of leather shoes can be a pain, especially when you have an event coming up with no time to shop.

Here’s some literal food for thought: did you know that you can use the juice from an orange to get rid of grime on leather? Rub half an orange on your leather shoes until the juices soak in, leave the shoes to dry, then buff them with a rag.

5.) Don’t Be Afraid to Manscape

While the hair on your chest, armpits and pubic area isn’t usually visible day-to-day, it can still affect your overall appearance. Your scent is just as important as your look and, unfortunately, body hair traps sweat and bacteria that can cause body odour.

Did you know that in a 2015 study done by Gillette, it was found that shaving your armpit was 2.5 times more effective than washing with soap alone when it came to getting rid of body odour? Even after 3 days, men who had shaved their armpits still smelt great.

Manscaping has never been more convenient than with our Gillette All Purpose Styler and Trimmer. 100% waterproof, it can be used in the shower or sink, making it an easy addition to your morning routine.
