Amazing shave
5If like me you've been using disposable shavers dispose of them now and get yourself one of these amazing safety razors. The weight/balance of it makes it very comfortable to shave with. I love the gel as well, you get a good froth and it smells wonderful too. I wont be going back to disposables any time soon.

5I’d always used Gillette razors. When I started shaving my first razor was a Contour Plus. I moved on to a Sensor Excel, then a Mach 3, then finally a Gillette Fusion5 Power. However, I thought I’d give the competition a try, and for a year I tried someone else’s razor and blades. Big mistake. I came back to Gillette, but wanted to try something new. Or in this case ‘old but new’. I ordered the King C. Gillette double edged razor (shaping kit). The razor feels good in your hand, it an amazingly close shave, my skin feels incredibly smooth even after using the same blade for a few days. I’m never changing my razor again.

3I recently purchased the safety razor, it came with a shave gel and a box of razors. I've always wanted to try one out. Up until now I've used the pro glide. Which is an absolute beauty of a razor. So figured a King C Gillette double edge razor would be the next step, something that would give me a tight shave on my head. Leaving smooth. Unfortunately I was wrong. Now it maybe me being a novice to it, but after a few goes I dont think so. Maybe the blades aren't sharp enough. If so, maybe there should be some different blade options? I follow the grain of the hair, I swill with warm water every few strokes, I apply pressure when needed. But I'm still left with an uneven, stubbly shave. I really wish I'd just about more blades for the pro glide now, instead of trying out the saftey razor. I am a bit disappointed with it. And that's not to say the razor isn't any good. It's just not as good as I hoped. It doesn't shave that close enough for me. But the shave gel has a wonderful smell. If they have that as a beard balm. This is a winner. I wanted to review this with lower stars. But I may just have to persist with the razor to see better results. Just dissappointed. B.

4On dismantling the razor to install a blade I found a slip of paper instructing me to read the manual before use. There was no manual either in the razor's own box or the outer box. Having shaved before I wasn't too bothered and went ahead and fitted a blade. When I had used a double-edged razor some years ago the blades came in a plastic holder with a place for the spent blades so they could be disposed of safely. These were just in a flimsy cardboard box with no means of disposal. I don't think I will be buying any more of these blades. The razor and blade perform very well and the clear gel makes shaving around my moustache and beard a lot easier. I was disappointed to find that the razor was made in China, which I assume means the so-called Peoples' Republic. Not only is PRC a dictatorship but it fails to keep its promises and has considerable human rights failings. At least it has a credible manufacturing industry. The blades are made in Russia which is politically about as bad as China. I think they are the first Russian product I have owned since the collapse of the Soviet Union and their stuff was junk then. To summarise, this is basically a good product marred by incompetent packaging and the use of dodgy countries for its manufacture.
