This is second Gillette DE safety razor resurrection after Heritage model (I missed) since 1980s when Gillette left DE razor market. It fantastic value for money and good business model. Gillette just combine the best in one economy of scale package: 89 type head of German design (and probably manufacture), solid heady metal handle from China and good about average aggressiveness blades from Gillette’s factory in Russia (who manufacturing Astra and Gillette Platinum DE blades which widely available on e-bay or Amazon). And it is twice cheaper identical German Muhle R89. 89 type head has a mild aggressiveness close comb head. King C. Gillette with 89 type head is perfect for sensitive skin or for beginners to proper DE blade wet shaving. For my skin perfect combination is with medium aggressive blades: Astra Platinum, Wilkinson & Sword Classic, Gillette Platinum. Even with el cheapo shaving soap like Arko or Wilkinson Sword it gives very closed (two passes in my case is enough) BBS. Handle has pattern in sweet spot for balance. This is good thing for beginners to hold razor correctly and easily glide it over the skin, not to push as cartridge razor. I was so impressed so ordered another two razors as the gift to my family members. Highly recommend. Buy it be it gone.

The postman arrived this morning with my brand new King C Gillette DE Razor and on opening the parcel I was immediately struck by the fantastic design and colouring of the box that contains the razor. The King C Gillette DE Razor is a thing of beauty, its quality is exceptional, Gillette have really produced something brilliant here. On using the razor for the first time I cannot believe how good it is, the handle is a perfect length, the grip is perfect, no slipping when fingers become soapy, and the weight is perfect. I prefer a mild shave and this is just as good as my Feather DS which cost a considerable more I can assure you! The blades are great as well, no nicks, no 'weepies' and no afterburn. I've been a committed DE razor user for many years now, this razor, for this price is simply outstanding, well done Gillette.

Beautiful packaging and design, and a wonderful safety razor that provides a mild and drama-free shave. I have tried a few of the most popular safety razors (most of which cost 2 - 3 times the price of this Gillette safety razor), but this is as good as any of them. It can be a safe and affordable way to get into the world of safety razors, or a great addition to your shave den, if you're already a veteran.

To start with the initial impressions of this piece is that it is way ahead of its asking price. A flawless chrome finish combined with a nice heft in the hand and very good looks. An exceptional, very comfortable result can be achieved with a traditional three pass shaving method. The handling is more handle heavy setting the blade feel & efficiency just right for a safe, forgiving shave. Ideal if you are thinking of getting into traditional wet shaving. You are not going to accidentally cut or burn yourself with this razor. You can daily drive this no problem at all. The packaged blades are not your run of the mill, basic blades. They are extremely smooth, sharp & are of a definite higher quality d/e blade. All this presents a great package & commitment from Gillette to bring back to the mainstream traditional wet shaving. Totally worthy of your investment.

I bought this as I was very impressed with the Heritage DE razor I bought a year ago. The king c Gillette safety razor is just as good. Love the handle. Smooth and close shave. Highly recommended. 

First class mild safety razor, great to see Gillette making safety razors again, hope there’s more to come. 

Iconic DES Razor, great price. Look out for deals, sometimes you get blades added for literally 40p instead of a fiver!
